The Department of Agriculture-Cordillera will now dovetail its programs and projects to consolidation and clustering in the region.
This was stressed during the Livestock Banner Program, Regulatory Division, and Halal Industry Development program Mid-year assessment on August 13-14, 2020 at the DA Conference Hall, Guisad, Baguio City.
The DA Administrative Order 27 otherwise known as Farm and Fisheries Consolidation and Clustering Program (F2C2) signed by DA Secretary William Dar, seeks to advance the interest and condition of Filipino small farmers and fishers by encouraging them to adopt a strategy on clustering and consolidation of their production, processing and marketing as community business enterprise.
DA-CAR OIC Regional Executive Director Cameron P. Odsey said that given the limited resources, intervention and programs, the department will be geared its program to farm clustering and consolidation.
He expressed to ensure that farm clustering within a specific area will be able to sustain their agriculture enterprise and livelihood.
RED Odsey mentioned that 90% assistance of the department will go directly to farm clustering program to optimize the interventions and assistance provided by the DA and other government agencies.
The program shall give priority focus to community production and processing that promotes better coordination, organized value chain systems towards increased productivity as against the small stand-alone traditional farming and fishing practices.
During the assessment, concerns on African Swine fever and Fall Army Worm including the promotion of the Dairy Development Project were thoroughly discussed to address the refocused plans and programs in 2020.
Likewise, Chief of Regulatory Division Ruben Dulagan explained that the activity aims to evaluate the progress of implementation of the department’s programs and projects in terms of physical and financial targets.
He emphasized that it is an avenue to address the concerns and issues to achieve the target of Livestock Banner Program, Regulatory Division, and Halal Industry Development program for 2020.//
