In a bid to strengthen its highland vegetable consolidation and marketing activities, the Department of Agriculture-CAR awarded two million pesos (Php2,000,000) to the Mt. Province Local Government Unit on January 14, 2020 at the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian grounds, Bontoc, Mt. Province.
The financial grant is under the Bayanihan II Stimulus Package to help farmers move their agricultural products to the end market.
This was seconded by Dr. Cameron P. Odsey, the OIC Regional Executive Director of DA-CAR during his message.
“Yes, it is a part of the supplemental fund under Bayanihan II to support state universities and local government units for agricultural transport assistance,” he reiterated. This is aside from the Bayanihan I that supported Farmer Cooperatives and Associations either to procure transport vehicles, put-up warehouses and marketing assistance.
Leonor K. Verzola, Head of the Agribusiness Industry Support Services, acknowledged that the office is extending support to the farmers in marketing their goods.
“May this project further the initiative of our farmers,” she added after knowing that the Provincial Veterinary office allows local farm products to be displayed and sold in their vicinity.

Also, we need to continue assisting processed food production that we started with the DA-CHARMP areas where businesses stopped due to the pandemic and other marketing issues just like the squash processed noodles of Bayyo, Bontoc,” he added.
The father of the province, Governor Bonifacio Lacwasan Jr, enthusiastically expressed gratitude to all of the efforts extended because transportation is essential in marketing products.
He committed the support of the provincial motor pool in case of vehicle maintenance and the assurance that the leadership behind its care is assured.
