Benguet and Mountain Province farmer’s cooperative joined DA Central Luzon’s KADIWA ni Ani at Kita program on February 11-13 held at Marikit Park in Olongapo, Zambales and at Vista Mall-San Agustin Branch in San Fernando, Pampanga.
A total of 1,850 kg of assorted highland vegetables and processed products were consolidated from the Fresh Crops Agricultural Cooperative, Cacadcadaan Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative (MPC), and Gameng Association by DA Cordillera under its Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD).
Through DA’s flagship market development scheme, highland farmer cooperatives were able to raise Php133,100 total sales on the 3 days direct selling platform. With 1,100 kgs of assorted highland veggies, Fresh Crops Agri Coop earned Php70,000 while Cacadcadaan Farmers MPC sold 500 kgs amounting to Php 45,000. Gameng Assoc. also earned Php18,100 in the KADIWA.
Meanwhile, DA undersecretary for Consumer Affairs Ernesto Gonzales commended the workforce of AMAD in strengthening inter-agency partnerships in the KADIWA activity. Accordingly, the massive support of the people of Olongapo in KADIWA activities have been a product of hard work.
Blandina Guinat, Fresh Crops Agri Coop representative, also lauded DA’s strategies in ensuring farmers have “masaganang ani at mataas na kita” despite the impacts of COVID-19. “With this KADIWA, we are able to sustain more than 64 farmers that are depending on farming for a living. We are truly thankful for not just the assistance but more so of the empowerment that DA is providing,” expressed Guinat.
