To finalize the List of Proposed Clusters for the implementation of the Bayanihan Agri Clusters (BAC), the Department of Agriculture-Cordillera (DA-CAR) conducted a Regional Planning Workshop together with attached bureaus and agencies who are members of the DA Regional Management Committee (DAREManCom) on February 3, 2021 in Baguio City.
During the workshop, F2C2 Focal Person Ms. Crissa Datic presented the Administrative Order No. 27 S. 2020 namely “Establishing the Farm and Fisheries Clustering and Consolidation Program (BACs) Towards Greater Inclusive Agribusiness Development in the Country” as a guiding principle in the selection of Proposed Clusters for the Cordillera. The regional criteria for selection were presented for review and finalization of the participants.
The regional criteria was anchored based from the national criteria downloaded by the DA-Central Office and was revised as applicable in the region to specifically help in assessing farms as pilot clusters in the region. From the prior workshops by the DA-CAR BAC Technical Working Group, they have come up with the proposed list of commodity-based clusters namely Western Tabuk and Pinukpuk Cluster, Alfonso Lista Rice Cluster, and Aguinaldo Corn Cluster. These clustered farms are seen to have the potential in unified management of production activities, sources of inputs, access to financing, processing, logistics, storage, marketing and enhanced quality of produce.
DA-CAR Regional Technical Director for Operations Dr. Danilo P. Daguio reiterated the importance of Farm Clustering which is in compliance to the 12 Key Strategies implemented by the DA as part of the “One DA” Framework.
Meanwhile, the Proposed Budget for FY 2022 was also presented for funding consideration.
The activity was attended by attached bureaus and agencies of DA-CAR specifically the Agricultural Credit Policy Council, Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority, Agricultural Training Institute, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, and Bureau of Plant Industry.//Ms. Ellyn Virador, Fields Operation Division
