Kalinga, February 17, 2021 – The DA’s Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program awarded Agri machinery and tools worth Php936,900 to the Romualdez Farmers Association (RFA) of Romualdez, Rizal, Kalinga.
The RFA received 60 units of power sprayers while the 21 beneficiaries received sets of garden tools. These tools will support the Integrated Lowland Vegetables, Fruit Trees, and Goat Production Project.
“We are thankful for the assistance of DA-SAAD. Thank you for choosing our group as a beneficiary. Through these interventions, we felt the presence of the government among us,” shared Mr. Romel Alingod, RFA President.
Assistant Agricultural Production Coordinating Officer, Bentres Goyo, reminded the beneficiaries of the need to maintain the given intervention.
“Those tools and machinery is really meant for you, we seek your diligence in taking care of these tools, and with the project as a whole,” said Mr. Goyo.
On the part of the Rizal Municipal government, Municipal Agriculturist Isabelo Dawaton opined, “We also acknowledge our role in implementing projects like this as it is a great help to our farmers and bringing the government nearer to them,”
The power sprayer is a big help in the community since farms are rainfed, we are using water pumps. With this assistance in our irrigation system, we could produce more, we could save time in applying spray nutrients and liquid fertilizers in our crops, and reduce the cost of gasoline, Mr. Dawaton added.
Mr. Placido Alsiyang, a farmer and an IP Consultant, representing Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang expressed his support for the DA-SAAD Program. We need to help our farmers as we also recognize their importance in easing off our struggles especially during this pandemic.###
