The Department of Agriculture-Cordillera (DA-CAR), Agricultural Training Institute- Cordillera (ATI-CAR) and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority- Cordillera (DA-CAR) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on April 23, 2018 to enhance competency training for the region’s agricultural extension workers (AEWs).
The MOA signing ceremony at the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) was led by the DA-CAR Regional Executive Director Narciso A. Edillo, ATI-CAR Training Center Director Arlene L. Flores, and TESDA-CAR Regional Director Efren F. Piñol.
The MOA includes collaboration on providing training programs such as the Organic Agriculture Training for AEWs and certification on the operation and maintenance of machineries; and capability building program.
The activity aims to attain the national and regional development goals of the Cordillera and to maximize the resources of the line agencies through collaboration.
DA-CAR Regional Executive Director Narciso A. Edillo, MA.Ed., underscored that the DA is on the process of learning how to maintain the machineries and how to impart the skills needed.
“With this MOA, it will be an advantage to improve the implementation program of the agency. There is also a need in the skills and technical know-how to be inculcated to our farmers, to ensure that the assistance we give will be more beneficial”, said Edillo.
On the other hand, TESDA-CAR Regional Director Efren F. Piñol emphasized that the activity was a guiding instrument that will benefit the key players as well as the clients-farmers.
“With this collaboration that we started today, we will strengthen our programs to support our farmers, end-users”, Piñol added.
The said targeted training programs were initially scheduled and will start by the year 2018.
Also present during the ceremony were Virginia Tapat, DA-CAR Chief Agriculturist; Cristino E. Balancio, ATI-CAR Senior Agriculturist; Myrna B. Sta. Maria, ATI-CAR Training Center Superintendent I; Marlyn G. Necesito, TESDA-CAR Chief TESDS, staff from DA-CAR, ATI-CAR and TESDA-CAR.//Herman Danis
