The Department of Agriculture (DA) will develop the Baguio Dairy Farm (BDF) into a dairy learning center as well as for agritourism.

This was announced by DA Secretary Emmanuel F. Piñol during the dinner meeting with local chief executives last April 27, 2018 at Venus Park View Hotel.

The meeting was organized to discuss issues and concerns affecting local agriculture and to address the same.

Sec. Emmanuel F. Piñol said that as a learning center, the BDF will  be a venue for trainee including children every weekend to learn on dairying such as how to milk cow and goat.

Piñol said a hostel will also be constructed so that visitors to the center from all over the  country may have a place to stay during their visits

“An additional 100 Holsten cows will be delivered to the Baguio Dairy Farm for the multiplier farm”, Sec. Piñol, added.  

During the meeting, Sec. Piñol also committed Php. 10 M fund for farm to market road (FMR) to each municipality of Benguet including Baguio City.

Asides from this, most of the requests of the 13 Mayors from Benguet such as machineries, equipment, post-harvest facilities and others were approved by the DA Secretary.

Meanwhile, Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan acknowledged the approval of the DA for allowing City Government of Baguio to temporarily use a part of the Baguio Dairy farm as a staging area for garbage.// A. Cañero
