Seven out of the eight regional winners of this year’s search for the National Organic Agriculture Achievers’ Award (NOAAA) made it to the national level.

This was confirmed by the Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office Cordillera (DA-RFO-CAR) through its Organic Agriculture Program (OAP).

The 6 finalists from Benguet include the MLGU Tublay as Outstanding Municipality, Teresita Guevarra of La Trinidad as Outstanding Provincial Focal Person, Berto Bayeng from Itogon as Oustanding Municipal Focal Person, Tublay Organic Practitioners Association Inc. (TOFPAI) as Outstanding Farmer’s Group, Jose Sacley Family from Atok as Outstanding Organic Farming Family and Romeo Kimbungan from Tuba as Outstanding Small Farmer.

Shiela Maie Butic is the lone finalist from Lamut, Ifugao as an Outstanding Agriculture Extension Worker.

The National Organic Agriculture Program together with the National Technical Search Committee will be conducting a field validation for the shortlisted nominees for the 2018 NOAAA. 

The NOAAA is given by the DA to LGU’s provincial and municipal, focal persons, agricultural extension workers, farmers’ organizations, small farmers and farming families in recognition for their exemplary contribution and unwavering support towards the implementation of RA 10068 and achievement of the National Organic Agriculture Program’s envisioned goals.

The 7 finalists were nominated to the National Search for Organic Agriculture Achievers Award (NOAAA) after they were selected as Regional Organic Agriculture Achievers Awardee.

In recognition to their significant contribution in the region, DA-RFO- CAR will be awarding the 7 national finalists together with the Province of Benguet as an Outstanding Province on the Regional Organic Agriculture Achievers Awarding on June 29, 2018 at Crown Legacy Hotel, Baguio City.//RDibdiben
