A writeshop that sought to enhance the learning module of the School-on-Air (SoA) Program of Department of Agriculture (DA)-CAR for corn farmers in Paracelis, Mountain Province; and, Tanudan, Kalinga was held on March 8 and 9, 2018 at Hotel Supreme, Baguio City.
The two day activity was participated by the agricultural technicians (ATs) from the local government units (LGUs), farmer representatives, and personnel from the Corn, Rice and Livestock banner programs; Regulatory Division, and Regional Agriculture and Fisheries Information Section (RAFIS).
According to Betty C. Listino, resource person, the reason of the enhancement is to address the suggestion and concerns from the pre-orientation held at Tabuk, Kalinga last February.
“The content of the previous module was too technical in terms of content and also we are doing this to develop the module in a participatory manner,” said Listino.
Issues such as soil erosion, depletion of the soil, culture of the people and other matter that may occur before, during and after the implementation of the program were discussed and taken into consideration during the writeshop.
On the other hand, the activity was made possible through the participation and collaboration of the representatives from the different banner programs of DA.
Moreover, the activity was able to complete the initial write-up for nine modules with different lessons including the special courses, Sustainable Corn Production in Sloping Areas (SCoPSA); and, Rice-Corn Blend which was added during the activity.
Evaluation tools, and broadcast forms for feedback, pre and post diagnostic test, general course evaluation and, practicum form were also enhanced to complement the revamped module.//Krizzalyn M. Gavino, BSU DevCom 2018
