The Department of Agriculture- Cordillera Administrative Region (DA-CAR) and Agriculture Fisheries Council (AFC’s) in the region held their first meeting this year last March 26, 2018 at the DA-CAR Conference Hall.
The meeting was conducted to brief the members of the regional, provincial, and municipal AFC’s on the guidelines and protocols followed in the implementation of the DA’s programs and projects specifically on buffer seed delivery, rice model farm and guidelines on the selection of target beneficiaries for machineries and equipment.
DA-CAR Regional Executive Director Narciso A. Edillo said the meeting sought is to strengthen the roles of the AFC’s as a body mechanism for monitoring and evaluating the DA programs and projects in the region.
Edillo said as partners in implementing projects, the role of this AFC’s are very vital in ensuring that the programs and projects of the department if properly implemented in their localities
AFCs are the mechanism for private sector participation in the development processes at the regional, provincial and city/municipal levels, he explained.
Meanwhile, CAR RAFC Chairman Balbiña Ernesto said the activity served as avenue to clarify issues and other concerns of the AFC’s member in assisting the department in implementing its programs and projects for the benefit of the farmers.
Ernesto said this activity will also help them in crafting resolutions and policies in shaping the local agriculture and fishery development agenda.
The DA-CAR plans to conduct another meeting in the coming months to further boost the performance and build a strong relationship with the AFC’s .// A. Canero
