The Cordillera Regional Development Council (RDC) and Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) held their joint meeting today, 23 February 2018, at CAP John Hay Convention Center.

The RDC and RPOC bodies are both chaired by Baguio City Mayor, Mauricio G. Domogan. The members of both bodies are executives from the local government units (LGU), directors and heads of government agencies, and representatives from the private sector The NEDA-CAR serves as Secretariat for the RDC.

The Department of Agriculture-Cordillera Administrative Region (DA-CAR), led by its Regional Executive Director, Mr. Narciso A. Edillo, MA. Ed. attended this special meeting which was convened to inform members, discuss issues and concerns, and approve pending resolutions on important economic and development from the RDC’s Social and Economic Development Committees (SECOMs).

The RDC supported the adoption of the enhanced Regional Development Invest Program (RDIP) 2018-2022, and approval of the Regional Research and Development Agenda (2017-2022).

Both bodies also approved eight (8) joint resolutions, supported the funding request for the proposed construction or concreting of the Tabuk City, Kalinga-Tuao, Cagayan Road via Buragugan-San Francisco Nabuangan Section.
Also supported by both bodies in their joint session is the adoption of the “DPWH Design Guidelines, Criteria, and Standards in the Implementation of Local Road Projects by LGUs and other Implementing Agencies,” as presented by DPWH-CAR.

The RDC, supported by the RPOC approved a resolution “Requesting Malacanang to Declare September 13 as Special Non-Working Holiday in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

The RDC also approved a resolution presented by the DILG-CAR “Urging all LGU in CAR to Support the Campaign of the Bureau of Immigration Against the Proliferation of Illegal Aliens in the Region.”

Another resolution presented and approved by the RDC “Urges all Provincial, City and Municipal LGUs in CAR to Establish their Local Culture and Art Councils.”

For the RPOC, the participants reviewed operational updates and recommendations on the environment and natural resources and anti-illegal logging; the drug situation and anti-drug operations; and, other selected public safety, peace and order issues, and concerns.//Robert Domoguen
