In line with the continuing efforts to make agricultural products more accessible and affordable to consumers, the Department of Agriculture-Cordillera (DA-CAR) through its Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division facilitated theKadiwa Ng Pangulo in Tabuk, Kalinga and Luna, Apayao last February 12-13.
Various agricultural products, primarily highland vegetables such as carrots, chayote, potato, cabbage and Chinese cabbage; poultry eggs; herbal plants and ornamentals, and processed goods were sold in the Kadiwa generating a total sales of Php143, 108.00. Said products were personally sold by members of partner-Farmers Cooperatives and Associations (FCAs) and agripreneurs namely: Madalipey Am-am Farmers Association (FA), Barangay Loakan Organic FA, Yan’s Dried Fish and Beancharon for Kalinga and the Cadahill Farmers Agriculture Cooperative for Apayao.
Zenaida Mangsi, member of the Madalipey Am-am FA, expressed her appreciation to the Kadiwa Program noting that it was her third time to join such activity. She is grateful for the experience of selling their products directly to consumers, specifically those outside the highland vegetable-major producing provinces, boosting their marketing skills and income opportunities.
The Kadiwa Ng Pangulo is a regular program of the DA that aims to ensure that affordable and locally sourced produce reaches the Filipino households nationwide. Interested Local Government Units, FCAs and agripreneurs are encouraged to submit their letter of intent to the agency for scheduling and/or inclusion in upcoming Kadiwa events of the agency.//JBAgrifino with photos from CEWaytan and Kelvin George Arizala (AMAD)
