In a bid to boost local livestock enterprise, the Department of Agriculture – Cordillera (DA-CAR) turned over the Swine Multiplier Farm to Abra State Institute of Sciences and Technology (ASIST) on June 5, 2026, in Poblacion, Lagangilang, Abra.
The project was implemented under the Livestock Economic Enterprise Development (LEED) Program, with a total cost of ₱3.1 million. The multiplier farm is composed of one unit of animal housing, 20 pigs, animal and zoological supplies, machinery and equipment, including forage chopper, weighing scale, water tank, platform trolley, and power sprayer.
During the turnover ceremony, university officials expressed their gratitude to DA- CAR for their unwavering support and commitment in empowering communities. Dr. Jubert Gannapao, Director of the University’s Income Generating Projects Division and Associate Professor of Agriculture, said that the project will be managed efficiently and utilized effectively for the benefit of students, faculty and the communities they serve.
Meanwhile, Dr. Aida Pagtan, DA-CAR Chief of Administrative and Finance Division, emphasized that the future of the Philippine agriculture lies in the hands of the younger generation and that the turnover of the facility is an investment to the future. May the Swine Multiplier Farm be a symbol of partnership between the government and the academe, she added.
